Immanuel Lutheran Church began in 1904 in Deerfield, KS. For ninety years the church called Deerfield home until it became necessary to build a new building. After several surveys and discussion, it was decided that Lakin would be the best fit for the growing congregation. In 1994 the new building was dedicated, and worship began in its new location.
